1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2: The same was in the beginning with God.
3: All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4: In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5: And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1: 1-5
I've read many examples of near death experiences. Those who have been pronounced "dead" have felt themselves leaving their bodies and being drawn into a tunnel and seeing a Light at the end of that tunnel. Depending on the individual's belief, some people either see the Light as some religious icon, teacher, saviour or angel; while others just see Light. Those who "return" to their bodies bring back knowledge from the Light on the other side; obviously those who end up staying in the Light are pronounced dead.
One thing that comes across is that once the individual has left this reality, the light is switched off. In other words, this reality no longer exists for that individual because his light is no longer present to illuminate this reality.
I know from my own personal experience that one doesn't need to have a near-death experience to have seen the Light. I have merged in with the Light many times during meditation and I'm still...huh... alive. This Light is millions of times brighter than the sun as we know it. While I am being the Light, I only know the Light and completely forget about this "physical" reality. It's only when I "return" that this reality has any meaning.
The first time I experienced the Light and came back, I went into deep depression because it felt like I was dead. I knew that my real life was the Light and I wanted to live in the Light forever. It was only much later that I realised that the Light is already here. I wouldn't be having this experience if there was no Light. My purpose is to illuminate this reality.
As I was lying in the living room reading, I noticed it was quite dark outside even though it was only mid-morning. I thought to myself, "The sun is not the source of light, I am." By this I mean, the Light that I AM is the Real Source and illuminates all that I am being. This Light has a sound which is immensely peaceful. I focused on the sound. I noticed the room was getting brighter and the sun, as we know it, came out and gave me more light.
Light illuminates.
Light animates.
Light energises.
Light is life.
I am the Light of the world.
